ABOUT ABOUT

The Portraits of Justice initiative culminates in October, continuing with a simulation experience from speaker and writer Sue Ellen Allen, one of the inaugural Reimagining Reentry Fellows. Allen will present an innovative simulation experience in the City's Municipal Services Building, using public art to engage the broader public in reimagining and reflecting on the criminal justice system.

Overcoming Barriers to Reentry will open your eyes and raise your frustration levels as you experience a simulation of how nearly impossible it is to return from incarceration and provide for your family. Challenge yourself: could you succeed under these conditions?

Portraits of Justice has expanded our Guild apprenticeship program and launched a brand-new interdisciplinary fellowship for formerly incarcerated artists, led by Krimes and Craig. Their new collaborative mural will serve as a backdrop for participatory public art and performances from all five Reimagining Reentry Fellows: Reginald Dwayne Betts, Shontina Vernon, Sue Ellen Allen, Mary Enoch Elizabeth Baxter, and Luis Suave Gonzales.
